Floored by consumerism in today's world

The struggle to "be a man" in the 21st century is the theme of former Victoria Junior College student Aneirin Flyn's mannequin.

On display at LaSalle College of the Arts, the mixed-media creation, called Consumanism, is meant to embody "imprisonment" by consumerism.

The 20-year-old's artwork is one of the 148 created by students from secondary schools, junior colleges and Millennia Institute that are being showcased as part of the Singapore Youth Festival Art Exhibition. The annual event will be on until next Thursday at five venues, such as the Ang Mo Kio and Jurong public libraries.
