Best thing I ate this week: Lightly smoked salmon at South Union Park

'Best thing I ate' is a series where we share the best things we have eaten around Singapore. Read more here.

What: Lightly-smoked salmon ($23)

Where: South Union Park, 101 Jln Kembangan, Singapore 419139

Nestled in a sleepy neighbourhood around Kembangan MRT lies this nondescript cafe which serves an excellent salmon dish among its Western offerings.

The nicely-plated dish marries both the beautiful flavours of smoked salmon along with the tender flakiness of a perfectly-cooked fish.

Love cauliflower? The dish has lots of it. The slab of salmon comes resting on a bed of roasted cauliflower, edamame, baby potatoes and a puree of cauliflower and leek.

But the fish is undoubtedly the star here.

Delicate and perfectly-executed, the sizable slab is bound to disappear down the hatch in no time, leaving you craving for more.

I also never knew salmon could be melt-in-your-mouth, until I tried the version here.

It is just the perfect thing to order if you're tired of meat and want a light meal with fewer carbs.
