Buffet or a dip in the pool? You can now do both

If you ever found yourself having to choose between feasting or exercising, you don't have to face the same dilemma anymore.

A new lunch buffet option at Grand Copthorne Waterfront's Food Capital gives you the chance to do both, all while lounging around and spending quality time with friends and family.

Revamped in 2016, the hotel buffet restaurant has a contemporary and cheerful design. Most importantly, its Saturday Feast 66 buffet lunch ($66++ for adults, $33++ for children) comes with a wide variety of meal choices made fresh on the spot.

Hungry patrons who wish to while away their Saturday afternoons in complete relaxation can also use the hotel pool if they opt for the free-flow beverage add-on at $26++. Not many hotels offer such a package. A similar one at W Singapore's The Kitchen Table starts from $128++ (inclusive of buffet) for adults.

And if free-flow drinks are not your thing, mocktails from the Tempo lounge are priced at just $6++. Definitely what we would consider a steal.

More importantly though, how does the food taste, you ask?

Going to the 66 buffet is like going to Disney Land, we found - you don't have the time or space to try every single thing even though you really want to!

The options are impressive, comparable to Carousel, which has consistently topped the charts for buffets in Singapore.

It's too bad the chilli crab was a little over-cooked because its sauce was perfect - not too sweet and with a chilli kick all Singaporeans love. The gnocchi too, was delicious but the tomato based sauce that came with it was a tad too salty.

A must-try is the hotel's signature laksa, which was so fragrant there was no way we could resist.

Another star attraction is the freshly-made satay, which was both meaty and flavourful, and an absolute delight to taste. And of course, who could say no to golden-brown vegetable and seafood tempura from the "live" open kitchen?

In another part of the restaurant, a chocolate fountain beckons, with its offering of cookies, fruit and marshmallows. The cheesecake and nonya kueh stole the show though, with yam ice-cream coming in second.

And for the mamas and papas, with a pool and a play area to run amok in, we're sure your kids won't be doing any complaining.

So if you ever find yourself having to choose between a family feast or a leisurely dip in the pool... well, problem solved!
