All manner of citrus and berries are used to flavour biscuits, jam and other confections.
So while foraging in a supermarket, I do a double take when I see Watermelon Crisps. It is a rare find and I decide to get a box to try, wondering how this watery fruit is going to work in a biscuit.
It works very well. The thin nibbles, so very crisp, taste just like a buttery cookie at first, and then comes the unmistakeable flavour of the juicy fruit. What a delight, and it's something different for tea-time.
I also pick up a box of Rosehip Crisps and they have a light scent of roses.
The tanginess of the rosehips, which are fruit from the rose plant, is missing, however.
What a wasted opportunity. But the range includes many other options and, yes, including the citrus and berry ones too.
