Hawker Master Trainer Pilot Programme

The Hawker Master Trainer Pilot Programme, launched last month, is open to Singapore citizens or permanent residents aged 18 and above.

It was launched to preserve Singapore's street food culture and to develop hawkers for the 10 new hawker centres to be built by 2017. The scheme allows trainees to learn from veteran hawkers before they are assessed.

There are 50 places available.

The scheme will see the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) providing "hawkerpreneurs" with Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications in food and beverage. The programme is a collaboration between the WDA and National Environment Agency, and is supported by real estate firm Knight Frank and The Business Times.
