SINGAPORE - Online ice cream shop The Inspired Chef has launched its latest flavour, Ms. Strawberry Madeleine, created by pastry chef, Daniel Tay, of Bakerzin.
The new flavour, which pairs classic strawberry ice cream with handmade French Madeleine, is introduced in time for Valentine's Day. This is not the first time Chef Daniel is creating ice cream flavours for The Inspired Chef. Previously, he created Divine Chocolate Tart - a rich chocolate flavour ice cream with hint of sea salt and butter crumble.
His second creation was very different from the punchy chocolate creation. Ms. Strawberry Madeleine is a lighter infusion, playing on the chef's love for Madeleine and strawberries. Chef Daniel said: "Madeleine and strawberries are two of my favourites when it comes to desserts - so I thought, why not get the best of both worlds by combining them into one unique creation?"
SoShiok had a chance to try the new ice cream flavour last week and were pleasantly surprised that the two pints we received even came with spoons and serviettes.
The taste of strawberry is mild and not too overpowering. So if you're not a fan of the sour taste of some strawberries, this will suit your taste buds. We also liked that there were bits of Madeleine sprinkled at the top of the ice cream.
The boutique ice cream retailer collaborates with local food personalities to create unique ice cream flavours that are exclusive to the online shop. Others who have collaborated include chef Janice Wong of 2am:dessertbar and restaurant and Willin Low of Wild Rocket. There are currently five flavours to choose from, with more in the pipelines, SoShiok understands.
Each pint costs $14.90 and they can be delivered right to your doorstep. The minimum quantity you'll have to purchase is two pints, but there's no limit on the maximum order. You can even customise messages on the packages, making for a great Valentine's gifts.
