Sufood

Vegetarians can rejoice as Sufood, a meat-free dining concept by a Taiwan company, has collaborated with Heng Hwa restaurant chain Putien to open a restaurant at Raffles City.

The casual 140-seat restaurant offers an eight-course set menu at $25++, comprising a starter, bread, salad, vinegar, soup, main, dessert and drink.

Diners can pick from a variety of mains such as vegetable calzone, star-shaped pizza and baked potato al funghi.

Chef Yamashita

The former head chef of Patisserie Glace and Flor Patisserie, chef Masataka Yamashita, has opened a new patisserie with his wife Tsunemi.

The signature Luna Wrap ($5.70 for plain, $5.90 for flavoured ones), a filled and folded over pancake, comes in six flavours: plain, mango, strawberry (above), chocolate, matcha, and banana and caramel.

The patisserie also offers confections such as Darkcherry tart ($6.80) and Mango Rare Cheese cake ($6.80).

Fresh fruits lab

Former auditor Jaz Tan, 28, does not like vegetables, but she likes fruits. She opened Fresh Fruits Lab for the like-minded, and the eatery incorporates fruit into meals.

Offerings include the 3-Style Atlantic Salmon Platter for two ($28.90), with lightly smoked Norwegian salmon, pan-seared salmon and salmon croquettes that come with strawberries and mandarin oranges.

For a light and refreshing starter, try the Fresh Fruits Lab Fruit Salad ($12.90), in which berry yogurt is topped with a mix of fresh seasonal fruit.

Rouse

This new cafe has an eclectic and rustic interior, comprising furniture which was recreated, recycled or reinvented.

Items on the menu include beef-wrapped asparagus ($16.90); Crabby Patty ($17.90), a fresh crabmeat patty served with toasted bread and mango salsa; and the Quinoa Quake ($16.90), served with smoked salmon and homemade lemon dill sauce.

Side dishes include Shroom Shroom ($11.90), baked Swiss brown mushrooms stuffed with ricotta cheese and topped with mozzarella; and Orange-Glazed Chicken Frit ($12.90), fried chicken glazed with orange marmalade.
