Sambal Telur (Egg Sambal)

Sambal Telur (Egg Sambal)

For those who are not into chocolate eggs this Easter, try this savoury and spicy version of sambal telur (egg sambal).

It is one dish that you'd definitely want to have with fluffy white rice.

You can choose not to fry the hard-boiled eggs, but the taste isn't quite the same.

Given the time and effort needed to make the sambal from scratch, I prefer to cook a larger portion.

You can save the sambal in jars and use it as a condiment for other dishes. Fresh lime juice makes it a great dip for fried chicken or fish.

Purists may denounce me for using ketchup in the sambal, but it lends a tangy sweetness to the mixture which I find very palatable.

Now go on and whip up a batch of that sambal.
