Study to be done on how to improve outdoor dining at Boat Quay

SINGAPORE- To improve the physical environment and visitor experience at the Boat Quay promenade, Singapore River One (SRO) and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) are exploring the possibility of enhancing the Outdoor Refreshment Areas (ORAs) there.

The URA released an Expression of Interest today, inviting consultant teams to study how the ORAs along the waterfront promenade can be improved, said the SRO and URA in a joint statement. The works mainly include replacing the existing outdoor dining structures along the promenade with new ones to provide better views to and from the River, and the provision of electricity to the outdoor areas.

This initiative arose from a proposal by SRO as part of their five-year business plan to enhance the Singapore River precinct. They also sought the support of businesses and landlords in the area over a three-month period since November 2013.

Consultant teams consisting of architects, engineers and quantity surveyors are invited to express their interest to undertake this project. Besides developing the designs and construction timeline in consultation with stakeholders, the consultant team will also determine the scope of the construction works and supervise the construction when it commences. The Expression of Interest closes on April 3.
