Treats for mummy dearest

Attention is a mother's best friend.

When Mother's Day rolls around, all focus should be on her.

And in true Singapore fashion, sometimes attention comes in the form of a meal.

Here are some burp-worthy Mother's Day deals.

Spices Cafe

Concorde Hotel is offering a Mother's Day Seafood Buffet Dinner at Spices Cafe.

Mothers get a special serving of double-boiled bird's nest with lotus seed and everyone gets a braised half lobster with baby abalone, fish maw and mushroom.

There's still the usual spread of seafood, served over this weekend at $78. There will be two seatings - at 6.30pm and 10pm.

To reserve, call 6739-8370.

Pasarbella

If you want to be proactive this Mother's Day or you can't find a table at any of your favourite restaurants, cook for her.

PasarBella is selling pre-ordered boxes of ingredients and produce just for that. You have a choice of seafood risotto, meatballs and Thai green chicken curry.

A box costs $85 and you'll have to order via e-mail to events@pasarbella.com

But please don't ask mum to clean up after you're done cooking!

Brizo

Brizo Restaurant & Bar at Park Hotel Clarke Quay has a lot of food and activities for mum.

The buffet lunch ($60) boasts Chilean scallops, oysters, sashimi, slow-roast Kurobuta pork and plenty of stuff to ruin her diet.

There's a photo booth and you can bedazzle your photo frame as a present for mum. There's also a special goodie bag for her, with vouchers from Amore Fitness, Browhaus and Dorothy Perkins.

Call 6593-8855 to book.

Tandoor

Tandoor Restaurant Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre has a 12-dish spread for mothers at $68.

One of them is the vegetarian dish Navrattan Korma - made up of nine different vegetables and fruits and nuts representing the nine gems or courtiers from the Mughal period.

Another is the Murgh Pankhi, saffron-flavoured chicken breasts stuffed with cottage cheese.

In keeping with Tandoor's tagline "Every meal begins with an appetising story", waiters will go around telling the story behind the dishes.

It's available for lunch and dinner over the Mother's Day weekend.

To reserve, call 6733-8333.

Cafe Brio

Cafe Brio at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel is offering a Mother's Day barbecue, which gives you a great excuse to sit outside and enjoy the sun. But everything else you expect in a buffet line is also available.

It's $68 for lunch and $78 for dinner - the latter's a better bet if your mother is not a sun worshipper.

To reserve, call 6233-1100.

Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant

The restaurant offers food and ambience that older members of your family will appreciate. And you can eat for less this month.

Just for this month, classic dishes such as the barbecued Peking duck and sauteed bird's nest with egg white are going for $48. The restaurant is located along Keppel Road, so you might want to throw in a family visit to Sentosa after the meal.

Call 6272-8822 to book a table.
