It was not only a hearty meal but also a walk down memory lane yesterday for former Malaysia Cup stars R. Suriamurthi, Fandi Ahmad, Syed Mutalib, Lim Teng Sai, Robert Sim and Andy Yeo.
The ex-national players were at the opening of Mutalib's House of Briyani restaurant along Owen Road, a few doors away from legendary coach Choo Seng Quee's house and sports shop. Other players Quah Kim Lye, Samsudin Rahmat and S. Rajagopal as well as Justin Morais, the physiotherapist of the 1977 Malaysia Cup winning team, were there to share stories about the man they affectionately call "Uncle Choo", who died in 1983.
"There's good food here and this is a great place for former players of that era to gather," said Fandi.
