Yummy yuzu tofu

Yummy yuzu tofu

When people ask me why it always takes so long for me to get anything in a supermarket, I tell them it pays to scrutinise every shelf. I cannot tell you how many interesting things I have found this way.

>My latest find is Yuzu Ken, tofu flavoured with my favourite citrus fruit. There they are, hiding near some other Japanese products near the dairy section. I walk past then do a double take because of the drawing of what looked like yuzu.

>What a beautiful find this is too. Each pack is divided into three oval tubs of tofu flavoured with zest from the fruit. Eaten plain, you get the yuzu flavour in spades but it might be a bit austere for some. Turn it into a dessert by drizzling some honey over it, or make a miso soup and add chunks of the tofu to it.

>Yuzu Ken, $9.80 for a pack of three, from Paragon Market Place, B1-21/22 The Paragon, tel: 6738-2798, open: 9am to 10pm daily
