Get ready to book The Fat Duck

Balloting starts this week to score a reservation at the temporary outpost of British chef Heston Blumenthal's restaurant The Fat Duck in Melbourne.

His three Michelin-starred restaurant, known for its multi-sensory dining experience, will take up residence at the Crown Melbourne Resort for just six months from Feb 3 till Aug 15 next year.

All reservations for the 50-seat restaurant will be determined by ballot.

Register your entry at www.thefatduckmelbourne.com from Oct 8 from 9am till midnight Oct 26, Australian Eastern Daylight Time.

Only one ballot will be counted for each person.

Ballots will be drawn at random and successful applicants will be notified by e-mail on Nov 10. Each meal, said to last four hours, will cost AU$525 (S$590) a person, not including beverages.

Come late September next year, another of Blumenthal's famed restaurants, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, will open permanently at the Crown.

It will be his only restaurant outside Britain.

The Fat Duck is located in Berkshire while Dinner by Heston Blumenthal is at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London.
