She was on the last flight, and only knew that she finished first when her supporters splashed water on her around the 18th-hole Dendro green.
And Koh Sock Hwee's immediate words, after her three-shot victory in the SLGA Amateur Open Golf Championship at the Orchid Country Club, were: "My shoes are wet and I'm relieved I won."
PRESSURE
The Singaporean felt good about her game yesterday, but she still felt the pressure during the final round of the three-day event.
"I was hitting the ball well, but the feeling to win a big tournament at home made me a little nervous during the round," added the affable youngster.
Koh, a scratch player, did Singapore proud with the victory on two-under 217 against some tough rivals from nine other nations in a field of 63 golfers.
Melissa Loh was the last Singaporean to win the annual event in 2007.
Koh played steady and solid golf to bag five birdies against two bogeys for a three-under 70 to beat a trio of golfers, New Zealander Wenyung Keh (70), Australian Gennai Goodwin (72) of Australia and Indonesian Inez Beatrice Wanamarta (74).
