Haze update: PSI readings expected to be 'moderate' on Mon, says NEA
The 24-hour average readings of PM2.5 concentration - referring to particles which are 2.5 microns or smaller - will remain slightly elevated. Studies have shown that rain does not fully wash the PM2.5 particles from the air.

The 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading is expected to be in the "moderate" range from 6pm Sunday to 6pm Monday, said the National Environment Agency (NEA) in an advisory.

Here is the full statement from NEA:

SINGAPORE - There has been an improvement in air quality over the course of Sunday. Both the 24-hr PSI and the 24-hr PM2.5 levels have been declining since 11.00am on June 30.

As at 11 pm on Sunday, the 24-hr PSI is 50-54 and the 24-hr PM2.5 is 35-47 microgrammes/cubic metre.

Showers over Singapore earlier this morning have led to an improvement in the current haze situation.

We therefore expect the 24-hour PSI to improve to the Good range (i.e. <50) by early morning of Jul 1 and to stay that way until the evening.

The 24-hour PM2.5 level is also expected to improve.

Health Advisory (Jul 1, 12:00am - Jul 1, 6:00pm)

Based on the latest 24-hour PSI and 24-hour PM2.5 forecasts, the health advisory for the period Jul 1, 12am to Jul 1, 6.00pm will be revised to one that corresponds to the PSI <100 band in the MOH Health Advisory for the General Public and Workers, as follows:

Healthy persons: Normal activities

Elderly, pregnant women, children: Normal activities

Persons with chronic medical conditions especially lung or heart disease: Normal activities

Note: Persons who are not feeling well should still seek medical attention.
