The Ice Bucket Challenge has become a social media sensation recently, with many public figures and personalities participating to raise awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Scleroris (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

But a particularly moving Ice Bucket Challenge video was posted on YouTube by Anthony Carbajal, who is himself an ALS patient.

The video, which was posted last week, has been widely shared on the Internet and has gotten over 13 million views.

The video starts on a humorous and entertaining note, with Anthony doing the Ice Bucket Challenge while wearing a bikini top.

But he then shares that he was motivated to do the challenge because he has been terrified of the disease all his life as his family, has a history of ALS.

He also reveals that both his grandmother and mother had ALS, while he himself was diagnosed with the condition recently at 26.

The video also has footage of Anthony caring for his ALS-stricken mother, and shows the difficulties and challenges faced by ALS-sufferers and their families as a result of the neurodegenerative disease.

Anthony also addresses criticisms of the Ice Bucket Challenge videos as publicity stunts, saying he was grateful that ALS was for once at the forefront of the public consciousness and that each challenge was able to lift the spirits of ALS patients.

According to the Straits Times, since the campaign went viral on social media, donations have been pouring in and the ALS Association in the US has received US$53.3 million (S$66.6 million) between July 29 and Aug 22, compared to US$2.2 million during the same period last year.
