Bearded lady decides to stop removing hair

A mother of one who started sprouting thick facial hair after the birth of her son 28 years ago has decided to let it grow.

German-born, Mariam, 49, used to tweeze her goatee every time she wanted to leave her home causing her chin to look as if she had fallen on it.

Mariam had appeared on UK's ITV 'This Morning' show to discuss why she stopped plucking her hair, according to a report on the Daily Mail website.

She said: "My chin got really red and inflamed from all the plucking, and some of the hairs were ingrown, so it always looked like I'd fallen on my chin. But when people asked what had happened and I told them they couldn't believe it."

The Daily Mail reported that Mariam has experienced her fair share of criticism about her facial hair, even from her own mother.

However, she decided to grow her beard in 2008 when she was unemployed as she was curious to see what would happen if she let her beard grow, reported the Daily Mail.

She said: "I had no job so I had free time to give it a chance and see what happened, so I started a blog to inform other women about it, and to see what was happening every day and how I felt."

After years of being ashamed of her appearance and being single for a decade, Mariam now says she's more confident and feels sexy with her beard.

She is also ready to look for love again.

To educate others on her issue, Mariam has become the 'Bearded Lady' in a circus act, according to the Daily Mail.

According to doctors, her situation is apparently normal and possibly inherited.
