SINGAPORE - A dentist has been suspended for six months for causing "irreversible damage" to a patient's teeth.

Dr Lee Wai Han from The Smile Cliniques at Bukit Timah Plaza was found guilty of three charges by the Singapore Dental Council, the profession's watchdog.

The first two involved Dr Lee's inappropriate treatment of the patient while the third charge was for failing to refer the patient to a specialist when complications cropped up.

The dentist had tried to close two extraction spaces on the patient's lower jaw and had placed 18 veneers on the patient's upper and lower teeth.

Her six-month suspension started on Monday.
