A complaint of medical negligence has been filed against doctors who left behind a surgical swab inside the abdomen of a 30-year-old who had undergone a Caesarean section in February.
Tamil Nesan reported that the surgical swab was removed only on Monday by another doctor. The patient is said to be in a critical condition.
Police in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, have received a complaint against three doctors at the Malligai Hospital in Tondiarpet for negligence.
Police said the woman, who went for the Caesarean on Feb 24, had constantly complained of abdominal pains, vomiting and giddiness after the operation.
On Sunday, her family rushed her to a hospital after she fainted. Scan reports showed that a "foreign" material was inside her abdomen.
