MALAYSIA - Makkal Osai reported that a 42-year-old female doctor administered a drug to her 14-year-old son and later committed suicide by self-injecting it in their apartment in Vadapalani on Friday night.
The boy, Sidharth, a Class 9 student, is being treated at a private hospital.
Chennai police suspect that Geetha, a general physician at Vijaya Health Centre, decided to end her life and that of her son following a quarrel with her husband V. Rajarajan, a marketing manager.
The incident came to light around 9pm when Geetha's father Sivagurunathan, who stays nearby, found the door of her flat locked from inside.
He had called her around 7.30pm and rushed to her apartment when he did not get any response.
They were taken to the Vijaya Health Centre, where Geetha was declared dead while her son was admitted to the paediatric intensive care unit.
Geetha, who had not reported to work for the past two days, often fought with her husband over his frequent out-of-town trips. She was upset that they rarely got to attend family get-togethers, and pestered him to quit his job.
