Fitness buff's wish

SINGAPORE - For the past five years, fitness buff Chiau Yan Han has been making half-hour bus trips three times a week to a gym at Anchorvale Community Club.

The 24-year-old will see his wish for a facility closer to his Punggol Central flat come true when a Regional Sports Centre (RSC) is built in his neighbourhood.

This was announced on Tuesday as part of the first phase of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth's Sports Facilities Master Plan.

Mr Chiau, a National University of Singapore undergraduate, said: "I can take the LRT to Damai station, which cuts my travelling time by half.

"It would be great if the RSC has a running track and a swimming pool."
