SINGAPORE - As a precautionary measure, Sofix is recalling its Sofix Parquet floor cleaner with immediate effect.

Sofix said that the company has discovered that part of the product may contain micro-organisms which may have an adverse effect on the health of some people with a weak or compromised immune system.

In the event that they get the product into an open wound or eyes, ears or mouth, an infection may result.

"This recall is being undertaken as a precautionary measure to guard against this very unlikely event which may cause an infection," the company said in a statement to the media.

"Consumer satisfaction and the safety of our products are our top priority. Therefore as a matter of precaution and for the convenience of our consumers, all Sofix Parquet will be taken back," it said.

Sofix said that all Sofix Parquet products in stores will be replaced. Consumers who are in the possession of bottles of Sofix Parquet are requested to stop using the product, to close the bottle properly and store it in a safe place.

For more information on how to return the product, Singapore consumers can use the contact form at www.henkel.sg/sofix or call Sofix's toll-free service phone number at 1800-390-3323.

The phone lines are available from May 16 to 30 from 9am to 9pm.

If any consumers experience symptoms after their eyes, ears or mouth come into contact with Sofix Parquet, they should contact their general practitioner.

All other Sofix products are not affected by this recall, Sofix said.
