Four die after oxygen supply in hospital fails

Four patients died at a government hospital in New Delhi after their oxygen supply was allegedly disrupted for several minutes.

The state government has ordered an inquiry into the incident which took place on Tuesday, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Apparently, the oxygen supply machines at the Sushrut Trauma Centre had malfunctioned.

Police said the hospital had reported a drop in oxygen pressure at around 2am on Tuesday.

Calls were made to a gas company but they went unanswered.

A doctor rushed over to the place and got the oxygen supply functioning again.

However, the problem recurred at 6.45am.

The supply of the gas was restored within 10 minutes but by then, the damage was done.

The patients' condition deteriorated and they died later.
