West Bengal health minister Chandrima Bhattacharya announced that expensive cancer drugs will be distributed free to poor patients from Oct 2.
The state's ruling party Trinamool Congress said this initiative would provide better healthcare facilities to the underprivileged. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee also posted on Facebook: "The state government would soon make treatment of all types of cancer, cardiac problems and blood disorders completely free in state government-run hospitals and medical colleges."
