Healthier rations for soldiers

Healthier rations for soldiers

A move aimed at the Singapore soldiers' waistlines to ensure they are fit and trim for combat will likely take place next year.

The change will result in low-fat, high-protein and high-carbohydrate main meals which can be heated up in a flameless plastic pack, as well as a bun that can last for months.

Aside from more nutritious meals, each combat ration pack, which now weighs 1.6kg, is likely to become lighter.

Each pack is designed to supply a soldier with food for 24 hours.
