Some 13,000 children from low-income families or children's homes will get free AIR+ Smart Masks and AIR+ Micro Ventilators mask kits to use in severe haze or flu outbreaks, in an initiative by Temasek Cares, a non-profit organisation under Temasek Holdings.

At its launch yesterday, 30 children from Melrose Home were the first to receive the mask kits from President Tan. "It's good to teach children what to do, so that if and when an emergency comes they are not distressed," he said.

Over the next few weeks, masks will be delivered to children's homes islandwide.

Children from low-income families can redeem their mask sets from any Watsons outlet upon receiving a redemption letter.
