HSA finds 'potent chemicals' in 4 health products

Four products sold under the 'S Lion Juice' label have been found to contain undeclared potent chemical ingredients after testing, said the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) on Friday.

HSA warns members of the public not to consume these products as they contain potent prescription medicines used to treat male erectile dysfunction which may cause adverse effects, including loss of vision and hearing, strokes and heart attacks.

The products, marketed to contain natural ingredients for "better health and brain power", are sold through the Internet and have been touted to be "suitable for the entire family".

They are:

S Lion Juice 10 gm (contains Thiodimethylsildenafil, Tadalafil)

S Lion Juice 20 gm (contains Thiodimethylsildenafil)

S Lion Juice Orange 10 gm (contains Propoxyphenyl thioaidenafil)

S Lion Juice 1 (contains Aminotadalafil and Thiodimethylsildenafil).

HSA advises members of the public to:

- Stop taking these products immediately. Seek medical attention if they feel unwell;

- Only buy health products online from websites with an established retail presence in Singapore;

- Visit www.healthdangers.sg to learn more about the dangers of illegal health products.

HSA said that it is currently investigating the sellers of these illegal products.

Under the Poisons Act, it is an offence to sell any product with undeclared potent ingredients without a licence.

Anyone found guilty of an offence under the Poisons Act will face a fine of up to $10,000, a jail term of up to two years, or both.

Members of the public who have information on the sale of such products should call HSA's Enforcement Branch at 6866 3485 or email: hsa_is@hsa.gov.sg.
