IKEA recalls LYDA jumbo cup due to burn hazard

SINGAPORE - IKEA Singapore has recalled their LYDA jumbo cup and requested all customers who have bought the cup to stop using the cup immediately.

This is as the furniture giant has discovered that the cups can break when hot liquid is poured into them, creating a burn hazard.

IKEA said it has received twenty reports of cups breaking in use, including ten reports of injury. None of the reports received were from Singapore.

The affected cups were sold between August 2012 and April 26, 2013. No other IKEA cups are affected by this recall, the store said.

Customers who have bought the cups may bring them back to any IKEA store for a full refund. The refunds will be given out at the Exchange and Returns Counters at the two IKEA stores located at Tampines and Alexandra respectively.

IKEA apologised for any inconvenience caused.
