Malaysia ministry warns smokers to stop smoking during haze crisis

PUTRAJAYA - Smokers are advice to stop smoking during the haze crisis.

Health Ministry's Disease Control Department deputy director Dr Zainal Ariffin Omar said smokers would stand a higher chance in contracting haze related illnesses.

"Smokers will inhale not only the cigarette smoke but also the dust particles from the air. This will eventually lead to a higher risk of them contracting illnesses related to their respiratory system," he said today.

Dr Zainal had earlier distributed face masks to the public at Alamanda shopping complex with a team of officers from the ministry.
