PUTRAJAYA - Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry enforcement officers have seized toys worth RM13,840 (S$5,533.46), in 26 cases between January and May this year. The toys that were seized at various stores and locations nationwide failed to comply with safety standards and did not bear the Malaysian Conformity (MC) sticker.
Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said regular and random checks were carried out at stores to determine that the toys sold are safe and comply with standards that had been set.
"If we receive complaints from consumers, we will take action because there are thousands of toys sold in Malaysia and we hope that consumers will report to us if they feel that the toys they bought for the children are not up to the standard," he said at his ministry's Hari Raya Aidil Fitri open house yesterday.
Present was Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan.
