Malaysian songstress dies of cancer

MALAYSIA - Malaysian songstress Liu Qiu Yi (pic) has passed away after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Liu, 55, who had released several albums in Malaysia, China and Indonesia, died on Wednesday at her home in Kuala Lumpur, China Press reported.

She was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and had her ovaries removed in May 2012.

About three months ago, she slipped into a coma.
