Family members of a man who died after a stroke have accused medical staff of negligence.
They claimed that the staff of Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Tamil Nadu referred to the wrong scan report to perform surgery on 47-year-old Elumalai, Makkal Osai reported.
Elumalai was admitted to the intensive care unit on Nov 17 after a stroke. He died last Sunday.
His elder brother A. Venkatesh said the hospital had initially studied the correct scan report but just before the operation, it noted that his sibling's age was 17.
The family also said that the unit he was treated in often had power cuts and poor back-up facilities.
Chennai police are investigating the case. A senior doctor at the hospital denied the allegations.
