MediShield Life: Unfair exclusion

SINGAPORE - People living in homes with annual values of more than $21,000 will not get any subsidies for MediShield Life, even if they have low or no income ("Must I pay more if I have a pre-existing illness?"; Sunday).

Yet, better-off people who own such homes, but live in properties whose annual values are less than $21,000, will enjoy such subsidies even though they may be receiving rental income on top of their regular income.

The Government has been talking about fostering an "inclusive society where no one will be left behind", yet whenever new schemes are implemented, "asset-rich, cash-poor" citizens are overlooked.
