Mount Alvernia Hospital opens new medical centre

SINGAPORE - Mount Alvernia Hospital (MAH), well-known for its maternity and paediatric care services in Singapore, has opened a new medical centre to increase capacity and meet the demands of a growing ageing population.

The new, eight-storey Medical Centre D houses over 50 medical suites, allowing the hospital to expand its existing pool of specialists in order to better cater to the healthcare needs of the patients. MAH will now cover a wide range of specialties including cardiology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, neurology, obstetrics and gynaecology.

At the official opening today, Chief Executive Officer, Mr Lee Suen Ming, said: "It is imperative as a hospital that we must have the latest facilities and the best doctors in the various specialties. This will enable us to offer the best treatment for our patients."

To enhance patients' experience, the new outpatient laboratory in MAH's Medical Centre D offers dedicated patient resting areas and child-friendly play areas. The new building is also made more accessible to others with 350 car parking lots, which include designated lots for the disabled.

Mr Lee added: "Our key focus in the past has been on maternity and paediatric care, and this will remain as one of the hospital's core focus moving forward. But in view of the rapidly ageing population in Singapore, we will also be designing and re-aligning our services and facilities to better meet the needs of the ageing population in future. As a hospital, we hope to support our patients throughout their entire life journey."
