SINGAPORE - Since April, the National Environment Agency (NEA) has embarked on a recruitment drive to hire more environmental health officers.

An NEA spokesman said: "We began recruitment earlier this year in preparation for the dengue peak season, bringing our force to 850 then. We have intensified our recruitment efforts."

It aims to add 300 more officers over this month and August.

The spokesman said the agency has adopted a multi-pronged approach.

He said: "Besides press and online advertisements, we have also been partnering the Community Development Councils, the Employment and Employability Institute and educational institutions to recruit these officers."

Recruitment exercises were held islandwide. The spokesman added that 200 candidates have been shortlisted from the three recruitment exercises held in June.

Interested individuals can check the NEA website (www.nea.gov.sg) for details.
