SINGAPORE - The Health Ministry has launched a new clinical trial grant of $80 million.

The grant will be administered by the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) and will support innovative and high-impact clinical trials, and the development of novel therapies, interventions and diagnostics.

Speaking at the opening of the NMRC Awards Ceremony and Translational Clinical Research Symposium 2012, Permanent Secretary for Health Mrs Tan Ching Yee said: "It is hoped that such research will foster new directions in translational biomedical research, and further encourage multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations."

The two-day event at Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre saw 25 clinician scientists receiving awards and grant funding for their research fields such as cardiology, mental health, neurology and infectious diseases.
