SINGAPORE - Member of Parliament (MP) for Whampoa Heng Chee How warned that a dengue cluster has formed at the Kim Keat Road/Kim Keat Lane/Kim Keat Close area.
In a Facebook update, he said that the numbers are still climbing.
"This is a fairly compact area of old private terrace houses and a low rise condo. We (NEA, Town Council, grassroots) are making intensive efforts to warn the residents there of the danger that they are facing and to cooperate fully with the helping agencies to rid their area of this scourge so as to safeguard their health and safety," he wrote.
According to the National Environmental Agency (NEA) website, the cumulative number of dengue cases since the start of this year has climbed to 11,984.
There were four cases in Kim Keat Close, two cases in Kim Keat Lane and eight cases in Kim Keat Road in a July 2 update by NEA on the location of active clusters.
A dengue cluster is formed when two or more dengue cases occur within 14 days and the homes of the dengue victims are within the distance of 150m.
The cluster group of Balestier Rd, Kim Keat Close, Kim Keat Lane, Kim Keat Road and Lor Limau (Blk 76) was labelled as being in a "red" high-risk area with 10 or more cases.
