New software at TTSH to help assess wounds more efficiently

SINGAPORE - Nurses in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) will now be able to assess and treat injuries more effectively.

The hospital has developed a new software called eWound Clinical Decision Support System, that is likely to cut unnecessary wound referral rates by half.

This software, which is the first of its kind in Asia, assist nurses in ensuring that patients with wounds receive the most appropriate form of treatment quickly.

Nurses insert parameters like the size and the apperance of the wound before the programme provides the diagnosis and treatment.

Previously, nurses would have nurses would apply a basic dressing on the wound and wait for a hospital's resident wound specialist to prescribe the treatment method.

TTSH nurse manager, Betty Khong said the new software helps nurses increase their knowledge and confidence in wound care management. The system has been deployed for use in all of the hospital's inpatient wards.
