The Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in Jurong will open its doors to patients on June 30 - six months later than originally scheduled due to construction delays.

With a staff of 3,000, 80 of its 120 outpatient clinic rooms and 365 of its 700 beds will be available.

Health Minister Gan Kim Yong announced the opening date yesterday after a tour of the hospital.

Singapore Civil Defence Force ambulances will start bringing in severely ill patients from Aug 1 and all ambulance patients by early next year.

Two community hospital wards with a total of 76 beds will open on June 30.

These wards will be manned by staff of the Jurong Community Hospital.
