NKF to build 5 new dialysis centres

Donations amounting to $10 million from five sponsors are helping the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) to build five new dialysis centres this year, announced its chairman Koh Poh Tiong last evening at its charity dinner at Resorts World Sentosa.

Sponsors include The Singapore Buddhist Lodge and the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho temple.

The new centres will be located in Yishun, Jurong West, Bendemeer, Bukit Panjang and another undisclosed location in southern Singapore. These will bring the total number of dialysis centres to 30.

NKF needs $70 million a year to support all its patients, with the number expected to rise with Singapore's ageing population.
