A man was clearing some bushes with his friend in Pahang, Malaysia, when the blade of the parang he was using flew off its handle and got lodged in the left side of his face.

The friend took Mr Mohd Ridhuan Mat Tohor to a clinic, with the 20-year-old riding pillion and holding on to the blade on Thursday.

The 30cm blade missed his left eye by a couple of centimetres and pierced the surface of his brain, reported Harian Metro.

Doctors at Hospital Jerantut, where Mr Ridhuan was sent to, said the blade had been removed and that the victim was in a stable condition.
