Parenting support course helped 1,000 families

SINGAPORE - Signpost for Building Better Behaviour is a parenting support course under three-year pilot programme Involving and Motivating Parents And Caregivers Through Training (IMPACTT).

Introduced in January 2011, it is led by KK Women's and Children's Hospital's Department of Child Development (KKH DCD) and supported by a grant from Temasek Cares.

The course is offered to parents whose children are being managed by KKH DCD. The course has helped over 1,000 families and aims to reach 1,500 families over the three-year period.

KKH DCD's study of 330 participants between January 2011 and August last year revealed positive outcomes on measures related to children and parents.

The greatest impact was in parents' and caregivers' sense of parenting satisfaction, reduced daily hassles and reduced selfabsorbed behaviours of children.
