Rise and shine campaign to help parents raise healthier kids

SINGAPORE - Parents of young children can look forward to a new movement that aims to make child-raising a healthy and happy activity.

The Rise & Shine movement, initiated by three mothers, caters to parents and educators of young children. It starts on Sunday with a record-setting attempt at the biggest breakfast picnic turnout in Singapore. The event, named the Rise & Shine Carnival, hopes to attract 3,000 participants.

Also in the pipeline is a Rise & Shine Expo, which will be held between Sept 27 and 29 at the Suntec Convention Centre. Held for the first time, the event will feature a line-up of products and services related to children's health.

The movement is supported by the Health Promotion Board, the Ministry of Social and Family Development, and KK Women's and Children's Hospital, among others. Dr Amy Khor, Minister of State (Health and Manpower) is the guest of honour at Sunday's event which will be held at The Lawn@Marina Bay.
