Ms Angelina Then does not go anywhere without her running shoes.

Indeed, the 48-year-old Singapore Airlines air crew member knows the best spots for running in the many countries she visits.

The toned woman, who stands at 1.6m, was first featured in the Sunday Times' Hot Bod column in 2011.

Recently, she was featured in an e-book by The Straits Times, a compilation of the Hot Bod series.

Since appearing in the e-book, she has received many positive comments from friends, she says.

The energetic and bubbly woman got into competitive running seriously only at the age of 39, after a neighbour asked her to try running outside instead of on a treadmill.

Ms Then, who is married with three children aged 17 to 20, has joined 15 marathons since then.

"I love the adrenaline of running, and its after-effects, which come from endorphins being released," she says.

Her favourite running spot is around MacRitchie Reservoir, and she heads for the trails there as early as 4.30am.

"I especially love it when it rains. Running is my special sanctuary," she explains.

Besides her regular runs, Ms Then trains her core muscles with exercises such as flutter kicks.

She is also disciplined in her diet and indulges only when the quality of food is worth the extra calories.

"My guilty pleasures are mee siam, ice cream, chocolate and really good cheese cake," Ms Then says.

And what are her "approved" food items? "Home-cooked meals featuring brown rice, vegetables, salad and seafood," she reveals.
