SINGAPORE - The haze in Singapore reached unhealthy levels at 11am on Sunday, with the three-hour PSI readings crossing the 100 mark.
The three-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading hit 104 at 11am, and climbed slightly to 106 at 12pm, according to the National Environment Agency's (NEA's) website.
The index had been hovering in the upper 80s for much of the early morning before climbing to 90 and above after daybreak. A reading above 100 put the air quality in the 'unhealthy' range.
NEA said in a statement that the current haziness is expected to persist, but thundery showers forecast in the afternoon may improve the conditions.
The overall 24-hour PSI for Singapore is expected to be in the high-end of the Moderate range and low-end of the Unhealthy range today, it said.
People are advised to avoid strenous outdoor exertion when the PSI reaches the unhealthy range.
