CHINA - The parents of a grade three student at a junior high school in Wuhan, Hubei province, are worried their son wants to go to South Korea for plastic surgery to make him look like a TV character, Wuhan Evening News reported on Wednesday.
The unnamed student is a big fan of a South Korean TV drama, My Love from the Star. It is about an alien who landed on Earth 400 years ago and falls in love with an actress in the modern era.
The student wanted to look like Professor Do, the alien in the drama, and contacted other young people who shared the same dream to go to South Korea for plastic surgery. His parents worried about him and called a media hotline asking for help.
Li Xianfu, a psychologist and director of the Sino-German Institute of Psychology, said a person who cannot objectively accept his appearance might suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder and needs psychological help.
