Survey shows only 36 per cent of S'poreans floss every day

SINGAPORE - While 85 per cent of Singaporeans said they are aware that oral hygiene contributes to overall health, only 36 per cent made it a habit to floss every day, according to a survey.

The study by health and well-being company Royal Philips showed 40 per cent acknowledging that gum disease can cause diabetes, respiratory infections (39 per cent) and heart and cardiovascular diseases (34 per cent), yet Singaporeans ranked flossing as the last in the list of things they would do if they had 60 seconds to improve their health.

Eating a piece of fruit topped the list at 50 per cent, closely followed by a one-minute exercise.
