SINGAPORE - My father was admitted to the National University Hospital on June 1.

The staff there, from the doctors, nurses and therapists to the social workers and support staff, were gracious and competent.

They went about their work with loving patience and genuine care.

The two doctors who attended to my father at the emergency department were very patient; one even held my mother's hands as she broke down.

Even the trainee nurses, who were very gentle as they fed my father, were so warm that we dubbed them "dad's angels".

The same level of care was also given to the other patients in the B2-class Ward 41 that my father was in.

The care there far exceeded what my father received when he was admitted to a private hospital earlier.

He is now receiving palliative care at home and we are also very grateful to HCA Hospice Care for its reassurances and support.
