Heartbleed bug: Govt agencies have taken security measures

The following is a letter from Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore:

We note Mr Mathias Korber's concern over the Heartbleed bug ("What is Heartbleed's impact on local websites?"; April 14).

SingCert has already posted advisories on the Heartbleed bug for the public and organisations at www.singcert.org.sg. They can also check with their respective Web service or infocomm technology support service providers if they have concerns over specific websites or services offered by these providers.

We reassure the public that government agencies have undertaken the necessary security measures to ensure the integrity of their websites and e-services. These include SingPass and the tax e-filing systems.

Nevertheless, we advise members of the public to change their passwords regularly for online transactions, as a good security practice.

Ng Sook Fun (Ms)
