Ipoh-born Catherine Chin Wan Ping, winner of MasterChef UK 2014, may be part British now, but her heart and stomach are one hundred per cent Malaysian.

In our exclusive Skype interview with the self-taught cook - who tells us she expressly wanted to showcase Malaysian cuisine on the hit BBC One reality TV competition - the 35-year-old mum talks about dealing with the pressure tests on the show, working in professional kitchens around Europe, and living with the fame that has come with her victory.

She also reveals what her mother thinks of her cooking, dealing with her biggest critic, and why her favourite dish is not a crowd pleaser.
